Well, as I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, I was under tremendous pressure with lots of work stuff. And with all this work stuff, I've neglected my blog. I was afraid that I would not keep up with my blog because of distractions. However, that shouldn't be any excuse.
I'm happy to report that all the pressures of work have finally subsided. Well, it has for now. The HNL Test Flights went well. We had no scenarios on our flights, which made all that studying for naught. So, what it boils down to it, I flew to HNL, had a wonderful time there, and then came back. And the best part of it, I got paid for it. I couldn't ask for a better trip. It was the ideal trip. I literally picked the people I wanted to work with, and spend 24 hours in HNL. What more could I ask for? And, since then, no trip can compare. Well, I only had one trip after that.
Reason being was I had the rest of my reserve days dropped for an excellent reason. As you all know, I also apply for a job promotion in the training department. All this occurred during the last part of August and beginning of September, with the last interview on September 11. I'm happy to report that I got the promotion, and I started last Friday. What a relief. It's good to know that all that hard work finally paid off.
After 18 years of being in the air, I finally have my feet on the ground. I've gone from an erratic schedule, to something regular. I have weekends off, which I haven't had in a long time. I've gone from an hourly worker, to a salaried manager. It all has happened so fast! I feel like Melanie Griffin in "Working Girl." I've all of a sudden has to-do lists, calendar of events, corporate meetings, department meetings, and a staff. It's going to be hard to adjust to.
I'm fortunate to belong to a department that is hard working, knowledgeable, and most importantly, supportive and FUN! I'm sure once that I get into the swing of things, I can start letting my hair down and show my personality. Until then, it's about learning, learning, and more learning!
The next step of my new life. With that, I should be able to blog more often. More likely during my commute to and from work. So, there should more to come. Hopefully!
